Bench Order Quality Improvement for an Importe
The Challenge

PROJECT BACKGROUND

A fitness equipment importer was sourcing several strength products from China for regular container shipments. After previous orders, the client found that although the products were generally acceptable, there were still recurring issues affecting their market feedback and internal handling efficiency. The main problems included slight differences in surface finish between batches, small inconsistencies in assembly details, and insufficient carton protection for long-distance shipment. These issues did not make the products unusable, but they increased the client’s after-sales pressure and reduced confidence in repeat ordering. The client wanted a practical improvement plan that could help make product quality more stable, reduce packaging-related risk, and improve overall shipment consistency without causing major cost increases.

Our Approach

SOLUTION SUMMARY

We reviewed the client’s previous feedback together with the factory’s production process and identified the main improvement points in finish control, hardware consistency, assembly checking, and packaging protection. First, we helped define clearer control standards for key visible parts, especially powder coating appearance, weld finishing, and accessory matching. Then we followed up with the factory during production and checked whether the agreed details were being applied consistently during fabrication and assembly. For packaging improvement, we adjusted the internal protection structure for vulnerable parts, strengthened corner protection, and improved carton marking for easier warehouse identification. Before shipment, we also carried out additional checks on appearance, function, label consistency, and packing status to reduce the possibility of repeated issues in delivery. Instead of changing the whole product structure, the project focused on practical quality optimization in the existing supply model. This made the improvements easier to implement and more suitable for the client’s ongoing procurement plan.

Outcomes

KEY RESULTS

  • Improved consistency of surface finish and visible product details across batches
  • Reduced packaging-related risk through stronger internal protection and carton adjustment
  • Lowered after-sales pressure by identifying and correcting recurring quality issues before shipment
  • Made production follow-up and inspection points clearer for future repeat orders
  • Helped the client continue sourcing with more stable quality control and shipment confidence
